Not long ago, I preached the importance of taking control of your own business. But alas, I did not take my own advice, and let a Hostess take the better of me.

Recently, I had a roll of parties in a town called Lexton, who preferred Sunday parties. At work, I have also been given a contract which includes a Sunday shift starting at 6.00am, meaning a wake up call for me at 4.30am. Last party at Lexton, I took my kit to work, got dressed in the public toilets following my shift, drove to Lexton for party and did not walk back into my front door until 8.30 that evening, juggling the kangaroos on the way. So I made an executive decision, Sunday will be my party free day. Too tiring, and dangerous if doing long drives.

But I had a party booking with the prospective hostess insisting she could only do Sundays. All her friends worked and Sunday was the only day for them to make it. She played netball on Saturdays, meaning her netball team could come on Sunday.

I did not want to risk the long tiring drive after work, so I pulled a sicky. After all, the Hostess led me to believe she had a number of ladies attending.

I arrived after 2 hours of driving, to find she had only 2 guests plus herself. I am only new with my company, so I am not entitled to sick leave yet. So, yes I lost a days pay.

Never again. SUNDAY IS MY PARTY FREE DAY. IT'S MY BUSINESS AND I CONTROL WHEN I DO PARTIES.

Oh Cris! I am so sorry to hear this woman did this to you :(

How very disappointing. But yes you are right. You need to keep focus that Party Plan is all about working it in around hours to suit YOU and YOUR family. If someone wants a party badly enough there are usually ways and means.

I would have been furious! But dont be too hard on yourself. Just use it as a stepping stone to move on to the next and yes book in around you and leave Sundays a party free day.

Chin Up! :)

Hi Cris,
How infuriating.....well toss it over your shoulder.............
Onto the next booking.....

Unfortunately there are many inconsiderate people in the world....;
But life is just too short..
Hope the rest of your days in the business are going well...
Kindest regards..
Kathy
